BASIC LIFESAVING

Designed to give people with no previous experience, a basic knowledge of lifesaving first aid.

  • 2 hour course covering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and care of an unconscious casualty.


EMERGENCY FIRST AID

General first aid course for all age groups, covering most emergency first aid situations.

  • 4 hour course covering CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), how to care for an unconscious casualty, control of bleeding, treatment of shock and choking.
  • 1 day course includes all of the topics covered in the above 4 hour course but in far greater detail and with the addition of the treatment of burns and fractures.


EMERGENCY AID FOR CARERS

General first aid for carers covering most emergency first aid situations, with special emphasis on the skills required by parents and carers i.e. persons with responsibility for the young, elderly or infirm, delivered as a 4 hour or 1 day course, the core content being as the Emergency First Aid courses above.

 

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID

Specifically designed for childminders and persons employed in the care of young children and babies

The course syllabus complies with the guideline issued by the Department of Education and the Surestart programme. Normally run over 2 days (minimum of 12 hours training), however it can be run as a modular course in sessions of 3 or 4 hours to suit home or work commitments.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID COURSES FOR SPECIALIST GROUPS

The Emergency First Aid course can be adapted to suit almost any group/environment. Courses can be run as 4 hour, or over 1 or 2 days dependant on the depth of knowledge required. Listed below are some of the specially adapted courses available.

APPOINTED PERSONS

1 and 2 day in depth Emergency First Aid course covering all aspects of first aid with particular emphasis on the work place, including duties of an appointed person and a brief overview of health and safety legislation as it effects the workplace.

FIRST AID AT WORK

4-day course. The Health and Safety Executive specify the content. Generally accepted as the most advanced first aid training course for the layman. This is currently the only first aid qualification recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and is valid for 3 years. A requalification course must be complete within 3 years to maintain the qualification.

The course is predominantly practical hands on training. The emphasis being to ensure that on completion of the course students will be both competent and confident to deal with accidents and injuries in their workplace

FIRST AID AT WORK REQUALIFICATION

2-day course, required before 3 years have elapsed from the date of initial First Aid at Work course to maintain validation. Candidates must produce a valid certificate to take part in this course. If a certificate has expired the 4 day course must be retaken.

INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE

A 1 day introduction to health and safety in the work place, including, United Kingdom Legal System, Health & Safety in the Civil System, Health & Safety in the Criminal System, Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, Health & Safety Policies, Enforcement, Risk Assessments, Accident Reporting, Accident Investigation, the use of personal protection equipment, Display Screen Equipment (other relevant to Industry)

STRESS AWARENESS

This course raises the awareness of likely sources of work related stress. Although aimed at general workers, it also serves as an introduction for senior staff and management.

MANUAL HANDLING

3 hour course teaching the correct and safe methods of moving and handling. Includes a brief introduction to the principles of manual handling.

RISK ASSESSMENT

4 hour course during which students are taught how to carry out a risk assessment, by identifying risks, removing or reducing the risk to an acceptable level and reporting procedures.

AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILATION

Students will be expected to have completed at least an emergency first aid course in order to undertake this specialist training and undergo an initial assessment to establish good accurate CPR skills. Students are required to update every 6 months.

Customers are a businesses greatest asset and the way front line staff deals with customers can directly impact on the profitability of a business. This course teaches staff how to utilise the best strategies, skills and techniques in order to ensure the customers experience is a memorable one.

TRAIN THE TRAINER

Ideal for anyone wishing to either understand basic training practices or those wishing to hone their training skills. The course is also ideal for those with little or no previous training experience.
